Client sought to establish a familial relationship to a foreign national person intending to migrate to the United States. This petition is a prerequisite to a foreign national person obtaining a family-based greencard. A greencard is the official document that gives a foreign national person permission to permanently live and work in the United States. A Petition For Alien Relative (Spouse) requires either a U.S. citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident (“LPR”) (i.e., a greencard holder) to be able to prove, among other things, that he or she is in a bona fide, good faith marriage (i.e., a real marriage) to a foreign national person. This petition must be approved before a foreign national person can apply for a greencard. This petition can be filed concurrently with a Greencard Application. Mrs. Huff prepared the appropriate Forms and presented sufficient evidence to USCIS and was able to get our client’s Petition For Alien Relative approved.
